So...... on Jan. 6th my husband and I went to the meeting, I was amazed at how many people were there, Crazy. We met the Dr and he told us what we could expect. And we filled out paper work and on the way out, handed it to our advocate. She is the person that goes to bat for us with the insurance company. She looked my employer and said that she thought I would be covered. I received a packet in the mail and an appointment with the surgeon, I think he was impressed with what I already knew, thanks to the vlogs and blogs. One step down, 11 more to go.............
My insurance criteria :
Over 18 years-------check- plus 37 years
3 yr history of morbid obesity-------check- plus
20 some years
6 month medically supervised diet regimen------check- finished on July 1st
must see physician every 3 months-----check- finished on July 1st
psychological evaluation------check-I'm not crazy whoo woo
I got a call on July 12th saying my insurance had been approved.
So I have another appointment with the Dr and a class of some kind and another appointment with the dietitian...............then THE DAY----NOVEMBER 1 2010
I could have had it in October, but that's a real busy time for my work, so instead of spending time worrying about the burden I put on my co-workers, I decided to wait. I haven't told amyone at work, except my supervisor....is that bad?

On My Way
I was never going to have WLS, never, never, never. I didn't think I could afford it. Didn't think it would work for me. Didn't want to admit to myself or anyone else that I couldn't lose weight on my own. Maybe I didn't even want to admit I was fat. But on Dec. 12th 2009 I was reading a blog, but not a weight loss blog. I found this blog because I was looking for information on Georgia military wives. My son was stationed at Fort Benning and thought that reading her blog would help me learn about military life. She is a funny crazy person so I kept coming back to find out what outlandish thing she would write about next. Anyway she had WLS she didn't write much about it, but she did post before and after photos. Dec 12th, I just out of the blue said..."I can do that". So that very night, I started googling weight loss sites. I watched dozens of WL vlogs, and read blogs and googled Weight Loss Surgery, in my area and I signed up for a class, I can't really believe I had the nerve. I hadn't even talked it over with my husband. The class was Jan, 6 2010. In my mind I had it all figured out. Meeting in Jan. surgery in April, then I would be ready for camping and 4-wheeling by summer.....yeah not so much. More tomorrow
